A day in Osaka – All about Food!

It took us forever to get to Japan from Switzerland but we were happy that our first stop on this trip was the food capital, Osaka.

We walked to the Dotonbori area and crossed the canal.

There was street food everywhere – crab claws below.

We walked to the Kuromon Ichiba market and paid ridiculous prices to try some Kobe beef. We saw all kinds of food items like fruits, seafood and also had some sushi but unfortunately it wasn’t great despite how amazing it looked. I also managed to stuff myself with the mandatory okonomiyaki.

When we later met up with our friend Sachiko, she and I shared the next mandatory thing to have in Osaka/Japan – takoyaki, definitely my favourite Japanese street food.

She then took us to an izakaya where we had the most amazing dinner of yakiniku. You have to cook the beef on your own.

Sachiko was the pro. The heavenly slices of Japanese beef melted in our mouths. The wasabi and the salt and sauces made it that much more special. We knew we had to come back and we did a few nights later.

After dinner, it was time for dessert. We headed to a cafe in a mall and had some interesting things like pumpkin cake, soybean parfait and the trusted chocolate fondant.
