A weekend at a lake house on Lake Anna, Virginia

We visit the US almost yearly as my sister and her family live there. This time around with 3 kids in tow, we thought a long weekend not too far away where we could all have fun together doing some water activities could be a good idea.

Lake Anna is one of the largest freshwater inland lakes in Virginia, just 76 miles south of Washington DC. It is a reservoir that cools down the nuclear power generating plants adjacent to the lake.

The house we had was HUGE. There were 3 floors, 3 bedrooms, a huge kitchen, an outdoor deck, several spacious living rooms, one which had sky high ceilings and a big den.

We all headed straight for the lake upon arrival. The water temperature was beautiful. Even our 3 month old baby was in the water.

We had a delicious BBQ by the lake that evening.

After a scrmptious breakfast the next morning, we set out once more to the lake for more water activities.

We took everything out this time. We went kayaking, fishing, stand up paddle boarding and floated around in one of the big floats.

What a great weekend getaway!
