A weekend in Ireland

We wanted to see the countryside and as Wicklow came highly recommended, that was what we did. The drive took us up the mountains that still had some snow on the ground.

We finally arrived in Glendalough (Valley of the Two Lakes) and we were blessed with good weather. It was very cold and windy but dry with the sun shining.

Glendalough is renowned for an early medieval monastic settlement that was founded in the 6th century. We walked around for a bit and saw the old church from the 13th century, the 30m high Round Tower and more.

Lunch in Wicklow was across the highest pub in Ireland. It was delicious.

We then went to Powerscourt Estate which boasts the voted number 3 garden in the world by National Geographic where we had a little walk and some delicious hot chocolate.

The next day we decided to do a coastal drive. We drove up to Skerries and had a little walk around.

We even saw a seal in the water!

We made a quick stop at another beach before heading onwards to Malahide and Houth.

We had the most scrumptious lunch there with the likes of seafood chowder, fisherman’s pie, monkfish and more.

Thank you Stacey, Dec and Elise for being the best hosts ever!
