We tried to do what must sound crazy to most people. All the above cities in one day. We were staying at a hotel just off Yasaka Shrine in the Gion district in Kyoto and took the bus to the Kyoto train station before 7am with our 6 month old baby in tow.
We all slept in the shinkansen down to Hiroshima and then took the train to get to the port from which we took the ferry to Miyajima.
I’d been to these places before but it was the first time for my husband.
We took some mandatory photos of us and the floating tori (gate) of Itsukushima Jinja with the deer in the background.
We ate some delicious oysters and then headed back to get the ferry and then a tram to the Peace Memorial Museum. I spent a long time at the museum previously so I was happy to breeze through it quickly this time around.
We got to the Hiroshima train station and had a bento box while waiting unfortunately for more than an hour for our shinkansen to Kobe. Once we arrived we took the cable car up to the famous Herb Garden. The views of the city and the harbour were mesmerizing and I can understand why Kobe is said to have one of the 3 best night views in all of Japan along with Nagasaki and Hakodate.
We didn’t have too much time to spare as we made dinner plans with a friend in Osaka. We hopped on the train once again and killed some time at one of the many amazing shopping malls just off the Osaka train station before getting the JR train to Takarazuka where we had another round of amazing wagyu dinner with our friend Sachiko.
I unfortunately do not know the name of this place but the value for money for those mouth watering pieces of Japanese beef was unbelievable. It was our second time there and we know we’ll definitely be back a third, fourth and fifth time on our next trip.
It was after 11pm when we got back to our hotel. What a long day!
