Another day in Kyoto with amazing food

It rained all morning which meant the pictures we took at Heian Shrine which had Kyoto’s biggest tori (gate) and at Nanzen-ji were only from the SLR.

We stopped to have some cakes at a cafe in the Kyodai area and later some lunch.

From there we decided to take the bus to see the famous bamboo groves of Arashimaya. I did not realise that Arashimaya was the name of this whole large area and the famous bamboo walk was only a tiny portion of it. We got lost in the heavy rain with the baby and were quite soaked when we finally got ourselves to the bamboo walk which did not turn out to be impressive after all.

It took us almost 2 hours to get back to the hotel with the train, bus, subway and on foot. Why is Kyoto so big???

That night we had the most amazing dinner with Kenshi and his family at Ganko Takasegawa Nijou. It was at a restaurant that used to be the second home of the Japanese Prime Minister.

We had sushi, Ohmi beef shabu shabu and more in our own dining room.

After dinner, we had a walk in the gardens of the restaurant.

Thank you Kenshi for such a special experience!
